Clear Skies Ahead
For a majority of Americans, the forecast calls for partly cloudy to completely confused, according to a survey conducted by Wakefield Research*.
As reported in Business Insider, when the company surveyed 1,000 people about cloud computing, more than half of them thought bad weather could have an impact. A whopping 95 percent didn’t think anything they did on their computers or mobile devices involved cloud computing, when in fact it did.
If you’re storing music or photos on your smartphone, guess what? You’re using cloud computing. Among some of the other most common activities involving cloud computing are social networking, online banking and online shopping.
The study was commissioned by Citrix, which works to make the world’s apps and data secure and easy to access. A press release about the survey that the company distributed said, “Those in the know claim working from home in their “birthday suit” is the cloud’s greatest advantage. The good news is that even those that don’t know exactly what the cloud is recognize its economic benefits and think the cloud is a catalyst for small business growth.”
If you’re foggy about what cloud computing is, don’t worry. The survey revealed that even a majority of millennials believed that stormy weather can interfere with cloud computing.
