A couple of folks on the SEOJames team have been working from home for years. If you or your employees have made the switch to a home office, which may actually amount to having a computer sitting on the dining room table, we might be able to help. In addition to all the effective and affordable SEO services we provide, we’d like to offer some tips for anyone who is now working from home.
Tips for Working from Home
How do we nail search engine optimization from a network of home offices? Each member of our team would give you a somewhat different answer. There are no hard and fast rules for being successful when you’re working from home. What works for one person, won’t work for the next.
Nevertheless, there are some things everyone at SEO James agrees on. If you want to maintain your productivity and be successful now that you’re working from home, here are a few tips you might find helpful:
- Create some kind of structure for yourself. This will be different for everyone and that’s fine. Some folks will find having set hours works best for them, others will rely more on creating a space dedicated solely to work. The important thing is that you lay down some rules for yourself. You don’t want to start every day asking yourself if you feel like starting work yet (the answer will usually be no) or looking for a place to put your laptop (in your favorite chair by the TV is not the best idea).
- Fake it ‘til you make it. Your frame of mind can be just as important as your physical surroundings. If you’re not feeling motivated at the office, you are surrounded by people and things that will help to keep you focused. You don’t have the benefit of that kind of reinforcement when you’re working from home. Some people find it helpful to continue to dress for work, which can help you feel more professional. It’s also a good idea if you’re planning to participate in any Zoom conferences.
If you find there are certain things that you find helpful, we hope you’ll share your own tips. Here at SEOJames, we may be masters of internet marketing, but we’re always open to new ideas! (How do you think we keep up with the ever-changing intricacies of search engine optimization?)
