What happens when internet marketers and search engine optimization wizards working from home have a little too much time on their hands? Well, it’s not always pretty, but sometimes it does turn out to be useful.
Here in South Florida, where SEOJames is based, there is still a need to play things safe, so everyone at our digital marketing agency continues to work from home. Without the need to commute each morning, certain members of our team (we’re not naming any names) have found they have a little extra time in their day. And, of course, it is only natural that these nameless souls would spend that time aimlessly surfing the web.

Ooops! Last month, Poland invaded the Czech Republic by accident. As NPR reported, “A spokesperson for the Czech Foreign Ministry confirmed to NPR on Saturday that ‘Polish soldiers mistakenly deterred our citizens from entering a church on the Czech territory in close vicinity of the Czech-Polish borders.’”
Frogs videos are apparently giving cats a run for their money. This is another story from NPR (and you thought they were dry and stuffy! Ha!). “Frogs are hopping all over the Internet,” an NPR host quipped. Apparently, Palmer Haasch, a junior reporter at Insider, broke the story after noticing frogs popping up in her social media feeds. “I was just entranced,” she told NPR. Her intrepid journalist genes kicked in and she discovered, as NPR reports, “that frog posts on Reddit more than doubled this spring compared to last year. She saw similar jumps on Google, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Tumblr.” No word on why. Use your imagination.
Of course, not everything on the internet is fun and games. Statista reports that about 1.8 billion people around the world purchased goods online in 2018. “During the same year, global e-retail sales amounted to 2.8 trillion U.S. dollars and projections show a growth of up to 4.8 trillion U.S. dollars by 2021.” And that was before the pandemic!
