Here at SEOJames, an affordable SEO company based on Boca Raton, Florida, we are all looking forward taking a little time off over the Thanksgiving holiday to be with our family and friends. Some of our search engine optimization experts will be cooking, some of us will just be showing up with a bottle of wine and a healthy appetite.
Christina, our senior SEO wordsmith, was telling us a story the other day about the first time she fixed the turkey on Thanksgiving, which got us thinking. We know the Butterball Hotline gets quite a workout this time of year, but we were curious: what other recipes were people searching for online?
Top Thanksgiving Recipe Searches
Turns out Satellite Internet was curious about the same thing. Using data from Google Trends, they looked at 20 of the most popular Thanksgiving foods on a state-by-state basis to see what was going to be appearing on dinner tables across the country this holiday.
According to their research, the most googled Thanksgiving recipes in the country are:
- Mashed potatoes
- Jell-O
- Green bean casserole
- Mac and cheese
- Sweet potato casserole
- Roast turkey
- Pecan pie
- Cranberry sauce
- Cornbread dressing
- Honey baked ham
- Sausage gravy
- Candied yams
- Gravy
It’s hard to believe that that many people need help fixing Jell-O, so we’re guessing they were actually looking for something resembling Aunt Patty’s famous green Jell-O salad.
On the other hand, we weren’t at all surprised to see that the Satellite Internet folks concluded, “Most people mash: From coast to coast, the glorious and simple mashed potato won as the recipe with the most states searching for it. Whether you’re enjoying them as a side with gravy or hurling them in a food fight, mashed potatoes make most meals better,” they say. (And we couldn’t agree more!)
In Florida, where the SEOJames internet marketing team is based, the most-searched-for recipe is sweet potato casserole. (Florida is a southern state, folks, even if our part of the state – South Florida – doesn’t act like it.)
To all of the amazing small business stars who trust us with their online marketing and search engine optimization, thank you! Whatever you’ll be enjoying on Thanksgiving, we hope you have a wonderful holiday.
