09 Jun Making SEO Make Sense
If you are a little intimidated by the concept of search engine optimization, don’t worry – you are not alone. Many of the small business owners who rely on SEOJames to power their online marketing efforts, felt the same way when they first contacted our SEO agency.
Next to helping our clients succeed, what we enjoy most about the work that we do is helping them understand the basics of internet marketing.
And, perhaps, the reason why we’ve been so effective at both of those things is because, next to SEO, our favorite acronym is KISS, which as you may know stands for Keep It Simple Stupid.
What Did You Say?
If you also have a fondness for the KISS principle, you will be happy to know that we now have science to back up our belief in the power of simplicity.
Jochim Hansen, a researcher at New York University, and Michaela Wänke, from the University of Basel in Switzerland, conducted a study in 2011 that showed that using complex, abstract language makes people trust you less than if you were to use straightforward, concrete language.
(Here at SEOJames, we really got a chuckle out of the fact that the title of their paper was “Truth From Language and Truth From Fit: The Impact of Linguistic Concreteness and Level of Construal on Subjective Truth.” If that isn’t an example of complex, abstract language, we don’t know what is! And, yes, in addition to keeping things simple, whenever possible, we also believe a sense of humor comes in handy when you are trying to take on internet marketing.)
If you would like to work with a digital marketing agency that treats you with respect and won’t confuse you with a bunch of industry jargon, please contact us at SEO James. We would love to work with you and help you develop a successful online marketing strategy.
