Take Time to Check Your Online Marketing Copy
Everybody makes mistakes. But if you want to make a good impression, it’s important to catch those mistakes and fix them. So be sure to take advantage of the spelling and grammar tools available on your computer. Even the best spelling tools won’t help you if you’re using the wrong word but spelling it correctly. It’s always helpful to have a second pair of eyes look over any content before you post it online, too. We understand the pressure of deadlines, but it really is worth taking that little bit of extra time. Our eyes see what they expect to see. That makes it really hard to catch your own mistakes.Mistakes that Made It into Print
Typos can be really funny – as long as they’re someone else’s mistake. When it comes to your online marketing, however, mistakes can be costly. In 1940, The Washington Post ran the headline: “FDR IN BED WITH COED.” President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was in bed, they got that much right, but he had a cold. According to Readers Digest, “The president thought the goof was so funny that he called the Post and asked for 100 copies.” Readers Digest also shared these typos:- “Congrats to our Home Run Hitler!”
- “100% Anus Beef”
- “John Barge: Georgia’s Next Govenor”
- “Illegally Parked Cars Will Be Fine”
